Ford has introduced the seventh generation of its most important and famous model. Despite modern trends, we still have a thoroughbred Mustang with an unmistakably recognizable brutal appearance and classic layout. Strictly speaking, the platform here is almost the same as the previous generation, only modified.
The engines are also retained: At launch, the Mustang will be available with either a 2.3 Eco boost four-cylinder turbo engine or a classic naturally aspirated V8 5.0. Surely these units have been upgraded and added in power, but the technical specifications are still kept secret.
But it is known that the limited slip differential on the drive axle is included in the standard equipment, and the transmission can be selected from a ten-speed "automatic" and a six-speed "mechanics" with the function of automatically adjusting the speed when switching. Another nice touch is the traditional parking brake lever. The mechanism itself is electronically controlled here, but this solution was chosen in order not to complicate the life of drift lovers.
But in the interior there was a small and expected, but still a revolution. The driver now has two displays with a diagonal of 12.3 (instrument panel) and 13.5 inches (multimedia system). Almost all auxiliary functions, including climate control, are removed into the bowels of the menu, although a few physical keys on the center console still remain. The Ford Sync 4 operating system itself has a permanent connection to the Internet and can be updated “over the air”.
The new Ford Mustang is presented simultaneously in two traditional body styles - coupe and convertible - and with a wide range of additional equipment. In addition to individualizing the body and interior, you can order a Performance Pack - a strut brace between the front suspension struts, adaptive dampers, more powerful brakes and sports tires. The GT Performance Pack adds to this improved engine and brake cooling systems.
In addition, along with the usual Mustangs, a “charged” version called Dark Horse is presented. Here the V8 engine is boosted even more (the exact figure is unknown, but something around 500 hp), there is a Tremec sports manual instead of the standard Getrag, the wheels are made of carbon fiber, and an additional aerodynamic package increases downforce.
The start of sales of the seventh generation Mustang will not take place soon: it is scheduled only for the summer of 2023. Closer to this time, prices will also be announced, and information about other modifications may also appear. It would be strange if in modern realities the model remains completely without hybrid versions.
